Fatima Family Holy Hour, SATURDAY Feast of the Immaculate Heart

Unfortunately, my husband was gone all day on Saturday, so we did not get to do the Fatima Family Holy Hour. I have chosen this coming Saturday to perform it, since it is the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It is also the Summer solstice, which is a very occult day, particularly this year, according to my research. Let us make reparation for all the occult practices done on this day. So what a great day to do the Fatima Family Holy Hour for the Church! Please contact us (above) if you decide to join us and let us know how it went for you, or you can choose another day in June.

Let’s be filled with positive energy and rise above all the negative in the world!

Have a grate day~as in grateful!

Image is from a former garden of mine-I love the giant sunflowers! They attract bees and are easy to grow. It is amazing how they follow the sun throughout the day and they even look like the sun. God is wonderful! So much fun for kids too.

Candle-Lighting for Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

(please light a candle next to a picture or statue of Our Lady)

+   Sign of the Cross   +

O Jesus, we thank Thee for this beautiful Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, which celebrates her appearance to the three holy children in Fatima, Portugal and all the miracles and wonders which took place there.  We thank Thee for our togetherness today all over the world honoring this joyful feast, though it is at a sorrowful time for Thy Holy Church and the whole world.  We light this candle for the intention of reparation to Thy Mother's Immaculate Heart, which so grieves over the sins of the world at this present hour.  We especially wish to console her for the terrible injustice to unborn children, for she is Mother to all.  May these little lights of ours ascend to her Queenly throne in Heaven and show her that indeed, there is still love for her on earth.  Love for Thy Mother always directs us to Thee, O Jesus, our Savior, Whom she holds up to the world in her loving arms.  Forgive us our sins and let us enter into this Holy Hour in a spirit of contrition and spiritual communion with Thee.  We beg Thee for a return of the normally celebrated Holy Mass, all the sacraments and the full functioning of the Catholic Church. Forgive us for the disrespect given to the Holy Eucharist. We offer as well, all the intentions of those participating.  Amen.

All Ye Holy Angels & Saints, Pray for Us!

Fatima Reading & Prayer

The Second Apparition ~ June 13th, 1917

About fifty people arrived at the Cova da Iria on June 13th, as the three children assembled near the Holm oak tree where the Lady had appeared. The children then saw a flash of light followed immediately by the apparition of Mary as she spoke to Lucia: “I want you to come on the 13th of next month, to pray the Rosary every day and to learn to read. Later, I will tell you what I want.”

Lucia asked Mary to take them to Heaven and was reassured in this way: “I will take Jacinta and Francisco shortly, but you will stay here for some time to come. Jesus wants to use you to make me known and loved. He wishes to establish devotion to my Immaculate Heart throughout the world. I promise salvation to whoever embraces it. These souls will be dear to God, like flowers put by me to adorn His Throne.”  ...Lucia was sad at the first part of this reply and asked: “Am I to stay here alone?” Mary replied: “No, my daughter. Are you suffering a great deal? Don’t lose heart. I will never forsake you. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God.”

One of the witnesses to this apparition, Maria Carreira, described how Lucia then cried out and pointed as Mary departed. She herself heard a noise like “a rocket a long way off,” and looked to see a small cloud a few inches over the tree, rise and move slowly towards the east until it disappeared. The crowd of pilgrims…reported the amazing things they had seen, thus ensuring that there were between two and three thousand people present for the July apparition!

Text courtesy World Apostolate of Fatima, USA, slightly edited.

The apparitions of Our Lady to the children were not their first encounter with Heaven.  An angel appeared to them previously, three times, and gave them two prayers, as follows:

"My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love Thee!  I beg pardon of Thee for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love Thee!"

"Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I adore Thee profoundly.  I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference with which He is offended.  By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners."

Final Prayer

O Most Holy Trinity, look upon the work of Thy Hands with mercy and give us the peace we so desperately need.  Shower Thy graces upon us like the rain, like a great flood engulfing us and end these many sorrows.  We live in unprecedented times, uncertain times.  Deliver us from all evil, visible and invisible and from all fear.  Help us to prepare for the days to come and to extricate ourselves from this inauthentic culture.  We pray for the triumphalism of Holy Mother Church and the salvation of all souls.  Give us peace in our hearts and courage to face the future and win our Heavenly reward.  Our Lady of Fatima, we love you!  Pray for us!  In the Holy Name of Christ, Nomen Christi.  Amen.

Image is a picture of my statue with the candle in my dining room. My mother bought this statue in memory of my father, when he passed away from a heart attack, when I was 7 years old. It had a memorial plaque at the bottom, which fell off and was lost. My father was not religious, but loved the Fatima story. I remember praying around this statue during Hurricane Bell on Long Island, which was about 1976. It is probably my most precious possession.

Feast of Corpus Christi

HOLY+EUCHARIST+51.jpg

Indulgenced prayers praising the greatest of all sacraments:

May our Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Blessed Sacrament be praised, adored and loved, with grateful affection, at every moment, in all the tabernacles of the world, even to the end of time!

O Sacrament most holy! O Sacraments divine! All praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine!

From the traditional Mass:

O God who under a wonderful Sacrament hast left us a memorial of Thy Passion: grant us, we beseech Thee, so to venerate the sacred mysteries of Thy Body and Blood that we may ever feel within us the fruit of Thy Redemption.

Alleluia, alleluia. My Flesh is meat indeed and My Blood is drink indeed: he that eateth My Flesh and drinketh My Blood, abideth in Me, and I in him.

From the Litany of Reparation to Our Lord in the Eucharist:

O Lord Jesus Christ, Who dost deign to remain with us in Thy wonderful Sacrament to the end of the world, in order to give to Thy Father, by the memory of Thy Passion, eternal glory, and to give to us the Bread of Life Everlasting, grant us the grace to mourn, with a heart full of sorrow, over the injuries which Thou hast received in this adorable Mystery, and over the many sacrileges which are committed by the impious, by heretics and by bad Catholics.

Inflame us with an ardent zeal to repair all these insults to which, in Thine infinite mercy, Thou hast preferred to expose Thyself rather than deprive us of Thy Presence on our altars, Who with God the Father and the Holy Spirit livest and reignest one God, world without end. Amen.

How can we celebrate this feast today? Aside from watching or attending Mass, let us pray the litany above for reparation, since many have said sacrilege against this sacrament is one reason why we are experiencing this chastisement. Also, the Sequence in the Mass is quite beautiful. Many blessings to all on this glorious feast!

Corpus Christi Thursday / Fatima Holy Hour Saturday

The wonderful trad feast of Corpus Christi is tomorrow and the new similar feast of The Most Holy Body & Blood of Christ, is this Sunday. This is joyful time for those who will now be able to receive the Holy Eucharist, but sorrowful for those who cannot. We officially cannot on Long Island. But I have been receiving from a very holy priest. I believe on faith, that I will not get ill or make anyone else ill due to my desire to receive (Jesus said, "If you shall ask me any thing in my name, that I will do”). I wear my Brown Scapular (as Our Lady of Fatima requested) and also use bottled holy water. Anyway, I don’t care if I get sick. I would most likely not die and even if I do, so what? I’ve been to confession. I will not live in fear! Our Lord said, “Ask and you shall receive.” You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Please see our post tomorrow on Corpus Christi.

The June “Fatima Family Holy Hour for the Church” is this Saturday. If you recall, we are doing this every 13th of the month, through October. There will be a printable PDF for you and your family. It is a simple program to do at home. Please come back Saturday for your print-out! Quite frankly, I have put a lot of work into this-I did the same thing on the Fatima 100th Anniversary-and have gotten a disappointing response. If you could just email one other person about this, that would be great-you can be part of the team! If you do participate, please contact us (above) and let us know. Your comments may be shared.

Trinity Sunday: Feast of the Most Holy Trinity

holy-trinity-church-fresco.jpg

Start of the trad Mass:

Blessed by the holy Trinity, and undivided Unity: we will give glory to Him, because He hath shown His mercy to us. O Lord, our Lord, how wonderful is Thy Name in all the earth!

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end!

Notes from The Daily Missal:

As soon as we have celebrated the Advent of the Holy Ghost, we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Trinity…The time is well chosen, for, immediately after the descent of this Divine Spirit, began the preaching and belief and Baptism and confession in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost….In this last part of the ecclesiastical year, the Church, guided by the Holy Ghost, continues the work of the Redemption, realised during the preceding part of the Liturgical Year. The Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, and bring all things to your mind whatsoever I shall have said to you.”

Let us contemplate Our Blessed Lord’s words just above, during these days of confusion. Let us continue to pray for Holy Church’s illumination and discernment. Praise the Most Holy Trinity!

June is the Month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

sacred+heart.jpg

This week, we have talked about “Mary, Mother of the Church” and the Ember Days of Summer in the Octave of Pentecost (prayer and penance for the coming season). What else do we have to look forward to in this Month of June? Let’s look at a sampling, as we normally do….

Trinity Sunday is both an old and new feast. In the old, it marks the end of Eastertide and the beginning of the Season After Pentecost. However, we are still celebrating the Mystery of the Redemption, as we are still in the Easter Cycle, the Second Part of the Liturgical Year. A new Liturgical Year begins at Advent, when we contemplate the Mystery of the Incarnation.

We have several feasts of Our Lord this month and one for Our Lady. I get excited every June, when we celebrate the “back-to-back” feasts of the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart. Let’s think in advance how we will honor these feasts together. We can be celebratory, since the Sacred Heart is a Solemnity! We honor 3 Doctors of the Church and several Apostles as well.

What can we do to give glory to the Sacred Heart of Jesus this month? We can educate ourselves about St. Margaret Mary and the Devotion that was given to her. Please see link on our last post and link below. The Sacred & Immaculate Hearts at EWTN, has a variety of wonderful prayers. One of Our Lord’s “12 Promises of the Sacred Heart” to St. Margaret Mary was:  “I will bless those places wherein the image of my Sacred Heart shall be exposed and venerated.” If you do not already have this image in a place of honor in your home, that would be a great little project this month!

Octave of Pentecost / Ember Friday / First Friday

Let us be joyful today in the gift of the Holy Ghost, yet with a spirit of penance, due to the Ember Days and the current state of Holy Church. Beautiful Sequence from the trad Pentecost Mass:

Come, Thou Holy Spirit, come, and from Thy celestial home shed a ray of light divine!

Come, Thou Father of the poor, come, Thou source of all our store, come, within our bosoms shine.

Thou of Comforters the best, Thou the soul’s delightful guest, sweet refreshment here below.

In our labour rest most sweet, pleasant coolness in the heat, solace in the midst of woe.

O most blessed Light divine, shine within these hearts of Thine, and our inmost being fill.

Where Thou art not, man hath nought, nothing good in deed or thought, nothing free from taint of ill.

Heal our wounds, our strength renew, on our dryness pour Thy dew, wash the stains of guilt away.

Bend the stubborn heart and will, melt the frozen, warm the chill, guide the steps that go astray.

On Thy faithful who adore, and confess Thee evermore, in Thy sevenfold gifts descend.

Give them virtue’s sure reward, give them Thy salvation, Lord, give them joys that never end.

Amen. Alleluia!

From Ember Friday Mass (the second line is deeply consoling and appropriate at this time, due to great confusion and deception-please read full Mass with your family and consider a partial abstinence tomorrow):

Let my mouth be filled with Thy praise, alleluia; that I may sing, alleluia; my lips shall rejoice when I shall sing to Thee, alleluia, alleluia!

In Thee, O Lord, have I hoped, let me never be put to confusion: deliver me in Thy justice, and rescue me.

It is also the First Friday in the month of June. Please see The Nine First Fridays Devotion. If you cannot receive Holy Communion, please make a Spiritual Act of Communion. Also, tomorrow is the First Saturday. If you cannot get to church, please see First Saturdays At Home-Never More Important!

Ember Days This Week!

The 2nd week of Ember Days is always in the Octave of Pentecost (there are 4 per year). They are always on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. It is a bit confusing because during this Octave, we are called to be joyful, yet the Ember Days call for penance. I might normally suggest a lighter penance and prayer. Also, getting into nature and doing some nice things that way, as a family, in a prayerful way-since the Ember Days invoke the seasons. This year though, we may want to do heavier penance due to the situation in the Church and the world.

For our discussion over at Catholic Answers Forum, see Ember Days This Week.

A New Marian Feast Today!

mary-mother-of-the-church-343x300.jpg

“When Jesus therefore had seen his mother and the disciple standing whom he loved, he saith to his mother: Woman, behold thy son. After that, he saith to the disciple: Behold thy mother. And from that hour, the disciple took her to his own.”

John 19:26

On February 11, 2018, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes (sadly, Lourdes is now closed*-get your Lourdes water while you still can!), the Church instituted this wonderful new Marian feast! From “Vatican News,” March 3rd, 2018:

“Pope Francis has decreed that the ancient devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, under the title of Mother of the Church, be inserted into the Roman Calendar. The liturgical celebration, B. Mariæ Virginis, Ecclesiæ Matris, will be celebrated annually as a Memorial on the day after Pentecost. In a decree released…by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, Cardinal Robert Sarah, its Prefect, said the Pope’s decision took account of the tradition surrounding the devotion to Mary as Mother of the Church. He said the Holy Father wishes to promote this devotion in order to ‘encourage the…growth of genuine Marian piety’. The decree reflects on the history of Marian theology in the Church’s liturgical tradition and the writings of the Church Fathers...Scripture, the decree says, depicts Mary at the foot of the Cross…There she became the Mother of the Church when she ‘accepted her Son’s testament of love and welcomed all people in the person of the beloved disciple, as sons and daughters to be reborn unto life eternal.’ “

For full article, including the official document: Pope institutes new celebration of Mary, Mother of Church

From the Mass:

O happy Virgin, you gave birth to the Lord
O blessed Mother of the Church
You warm our hearts with the Spirit of your Son Jesus Christ

For more info on the Mass, see USCCB’s page: Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church

What a blessing to have this feast at this particular time! Never before has the Church needed Our Holy Mother’s help more. Let us pray a Rosary tonight or some special prayers to Our Lady, a litany, or start a novena. In prayer, we have the greatest power!

*Someone over at Catholic Answers Forums just informed me Lourdes has partially reopened. More info.

+++ PENTECOST SUNDAY +++

holy-ghost8.jpg

Veni Sancte Spiritus!

+++

From the traditional Masses of the Vigil and of Pentecost Sunday:

When I shall be sanctified in you, I will gather you together out of all the countries and I will pour upon you clean water and you shall be cleansed from all your filthiness and I will give you a new spirit, alleluia, alleluia!

Grant, we beseech Thee, O almighty God, that the splendour of Thy brightness may shine forth upon us, and the light of Thy light may, by the illumination of the Holy Spirit, confirm the hearts of those who have been born again by Thy grace.

Alleluia! Give glory to the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endureth for ever!

The Spirit of the Lord hath filled the whole world, alleluia!

Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered and let them that hate Him flee from before His face.

Alleluia, alleluia! Send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall be created, and Thou shalt renew the face of the earth. Alleluia!

Come, O Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and kindle in them the fire of Thy love!

Suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a mighty wind coming where they were sitting, alleluia, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, speaking the wonderful works of God, alleluia, alleluia!

May the infusion of the Holy Spirit, O Lord, cleanse our hearts, and render them fruitful by the inward sprinkling of His dew.

+++

From The Daily Missal:

“The Vigil Mass of Pentecost is a festal Mass, which opens the celebration of the Feast and Octave of Pentecost….the Saturday following begins the liturgical season called Season after Pentecost.”

Our first thought on this Whitsunday should be one of joy! It is easy for forget that when the world is engulfed in suffering. But we must remember we are part of a Body and Holy Church gives us these joyful times for our good. Even in the midst of difficulty, we must raise our eyes to Heaven and remember where our eternal home is and what a great God we have! This coming octave of Pentecost should be celebrated with great happiness, which the fearful world does not understand. Each day this week, let’s return to the wonderful Mass of Pentecost, its beautiful Sequence and Vespers. I will be posting these. Please pray them with your family.

We are reminded in the Vigil Mass: “…you shall be cleansed from all your filthiness and I will give you a new spirit.” What an appropriate sentiment for this time. This is exactly what is happening now in the Church and hopefully in the world. We are being purified through our suffering. May we begin to ascend to greater heights of holiness, as never before! Let us give God our very best so He may show mercy on us and bring us back our sacramental life.

The above words also speak of “illumination of the Holy Spirit.” Never before have we needed this more. Let us pray for this illumination and ability to discern truth, during a very confusing time. Our Church leaders especially need this, so let us continually pray for them and try to trust that the faithful ones are doing the best they can. If we do not like what they are doing, we can write to them, without judgement or divisiveness. Do not let Satan infect your heart with anger-that only plays into his hands. I certainly would not want to be a bishop at this time. Imagine what a terrible burden they bear. We should support them with love and understanding. Understanding is one of the Holy Ghost’s gifts!

In the Gospel of the Vigil Mass, Our Lord tells us, “I will not leave you orphans.” When we are tempted to become despondent, we must remember He is with us. We are all having terrible adversity right now, myself included. But every time one door closes, another opens. This is a cosmic law. We must search for that other door. The Communion verse states: “He that believeth in Me, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” Imagine that. Rivers of living water! How can we fail to be joyful?

One more suggestion: How can we establish a more personal relationship with the Third Person of the Holy Trinity? A good meditation for the coming octave. Today is also the new feast of the Visitation and the old feast of the Queenship of Mary. A Pentecost graced with a double Marian feast! What more could we want?

+++

Following is our previously posted short meditation on the Third Glorious Mystery of the Rosary….

The Descent of The Holy Ghost

“Descent” is a dramatic word. What does dictionary.com say? Here is an excerpt:

descent: noun
-the act, process, or fact of moving from a higher to a lower position.
-a passage or stairway leading down.
-any passing from higher to lower in degree or state; decline.

Let’s go through this. “Higher to a lower position.” When we contemplated the Ascension, we spoke of Christ traversing from earth to Heaven. Now Heaven descends to earth. “Passage or stairway leading down.” This stairway, leading down from Heaven also helps us to ascend back up to Heaven, through the fruits and gifts of the Holy Ghost. “Passing from higher to lower in degree.” The Higher comes down to the lower, not to degrade Himself, but to uplift us to Himself. How extraordinary. And people think Catholics are negative?

So here we have the Third Person of the Most Holy Trinity, taking His turn to come to earth, the final great Act in this Story of God’s revelation of Himself to mankind and ultimate redemption. First, the Father came to the Jews, then the Son came to die, then the Holy Ghost came as the “Giver of Life,” as we are told in the Nicene Creed. We received Him in our Sacrament of Confirmation, but how often do we think of this sacrament and its implications in our daily lives? We must study the fruits and gifts we received and make every effort to increase these virtues within ourselves.
